CURLEW ORCHARD

Named after the endangered Long-Billed Curlew that once roamed these hillsides, Curlew Orchard is dedicated to growing delicious fruit in balance with nature.

Six acres of the property are planted with apple trees growing primarily Gala along with  Ambrosia, Macintosh, Spartan and Granny Smith.  Another acre is devoted to permaculture with a mix of fruit trees, berries, herbs, veg and diverse companion plants.  We are now certified organic!

Our apples are available to purchase at the Vernon Farmer's Market, bulk order from the farm or join our 'community supported agriculture' (CSA) program.  Find out more about Apple Sales.

OVERLOOKING THE NORTH OKANAGAN

Come and enjoy the beauty of this location.  From the orchard look out over Vernon, the Okanagan hillsides and lakes tucked between.  Steps from Grey Canal trail along BX creek to waterfall and close to downtown Vernon Silver Star Resort. Quiet and natural yet close to everything.

ABOUT
PATRICK & SEAN

Patrick met Sean while pursuing grad studies and endeavouring to engage the public in environmental issues.  Sean was dancing with the Toronto Dance Theatre, then Peggy Baker Dance Projects and the two set up home in Toronto.  In 2015, with their young children, dog and cat, the family moved West to begin a new adventure on an apple orchard.  Now close to family, friends and the organic community they have settled into farm life.  Joining the vegetarian family are retired farm animals who now happily eat bugs and graze in pastures.

On taking over the orchard we began using organic practises to grow our apples and became certified organic in 2020.  Today we are a farm family, all encompassed in growing our food, practising regenerative agriculture and even using a permaculture approach in a portion of the orchard.
